command-line tool that gives info about what's in a .scp (SuperCard Pro) file?

Yesterday, I put together a BluePill with Greaseweazle firmware on it, hooked it up to a 3.5 inch floppy for testing, and started trying out the gw software. Which records data to .scp files, and then you need another tool to change that into something more useful (all in all, an acceptable solution).

However, I find that I would like to have a tool that can provide info about a .scp file. The format is documented: http://www.cbmstuff.com/downloads/scp/scp_image_specs.txt

Before I start on creating my own, has anybody already made one? Preferably command line, in Python or something portable that works "everywhere'".

I'm about 2 days behind you. I just received my parts to assemble the Blue Pill to the Version 1
Adapter board yesterday. What version GW you running .6, .7 or .8?

For Software check out the HxC Software: http://hxc2001.free.fr/floppy_drive_emulator/index.html#download
and file "HxCFloppyEmulator software v2.2.2.1"
It will allow you to load the .SCP file and export it to various formats. Also view the Image.
I built it for Debian Linux (64 bit). It works good.

Also the SAMDisk Software by Simon Owen can do a few different formats.

Well that was easy. I checked out the HxC sources from SF.net and built it under Debian. Both command line and gui client starts. I haven't got any images here, so I can't test more.

You will need to checkout the Source from Subversion (SVN). Here is a list of the Terminal
commands I used. (It used to be a bit harder to build, because the source for fltk-1.3.5-source.tar.gz
needed to be copied to the correct subdirectory. Now, it's all extracted and copied by the makefile.)


Find the Current Kernel Info:
$uname -r
4.9.0-11-amd64

(Debian has now renamed package svn to subversion)

$sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-$(uname -r)
$sudo apt-get install libncurses5-dev libx11-dev subversion libxft-dev

$which svn
/usr/bin/svn

$mkdir -p ~/Downloads/HxC/
$cd ~/Downloads/HxC/

Download fltk-1.3.5-source.tar.gz

$cp ~/Downloads/fltk-1.3.5-source.tar.gz /home/larry/Downloads/HxC/

Checkout Source Revision 1904:
$svn checkout svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/hxcfloppyemu/code/ hxcfloppyemu-code
Checked out revision 1904.


$cd ~/Downloads/HxC/hxcfloppyemu-code-r1904/HxCFloppyEmulator/build
$make

Fix errors then:

$make clean
$make

I then create a Launcher to execute the software.

Ok, the hxcfe command line tool works, but it complains about the SCP images (which I have made straight from the Greaseweazle). Example:

I tried the same command on a KAYPROII_IMD.scp file that my Supercard Pro Created.
I copied the KAYPRO_IMD.scp to the build directory.

So, I'm seeing the same type errors.

I did get two of the GreaseWeazles completed and the Firmware loaded for Ver 0.7. Now I'm ready to
test with some assorted Floppy's.

If you execute hxcfloppyemulator it should work properly.

Then load your .SCP image and see what it looks like.

I'll have to post these errors on their forum so Jeff can have a look. Hopefully, he can get the
problem solved quickly. Plus I need to download the latest subversion file and update my software.

Before I start on creating my own, has anybody already made one? Preferably command line, in Python or something portable that works "everywhere'".

Since you have the HxC software installed you could always create a *.IMD file from the .SCP.
Then the IMDA and IMDU utilities from Dave Dunfield's IMAGEDISK can be used get more
information on the .IMD file. I use the following commands in DOSBox running in Linux.

$IMDA File01.IMD > File01.TXT
$IMDU File01.IMD File01.RAW /B /E /D >> File01.TXT
Then I look through Fileo1.TXT to get the Information to search my cpmtools DISKDEFS file for
Secotrs per Track and Bytes per sector to locate all the possible DEFINITIONS that would allow
access to a directory listing. There will be a few possible DEFINITIONS to try. Then the cpmtools
cpmls command can be used to get the directory.

$cpmls -f a1 -D X820IICP.RAW
Will give a directory listing if the DEFINITION "a1" is correct.
