Anyone have one of these?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cybiko

Interesting little unit, but I haven't had much time to play with the one I got for $3. Apparently, you can program in BASIC on it, although I might have problems using that keyboard. Apparently, it can connect to a PC. Unfortunately, I didn't get the cable with it. I'll have to sniff around the net and see if I can make one.

I also need to find a Smart Media card if I want to use the MP3 player that came with it.

I have one, had two but it got broken. Then the other one developed a strange error and died completely.

They're great for texting at the D&D table, they proved that! I tried playing Billiards with a friend of mine but it always crapped out.

Some notes you should know:

The power supplies that come with them are unregulated, don't use it on anything else,
the proprietary batteries are very low quality, before mine died I built a pack of 9v's to plug into the power supply port,
range for units is not that great, max 100' reliably.

If I can think of anything else I'll chime in. Too bad about the Cybiko units, they had so much potential and a better implementation would have made them a real classic. IMHO.

If only they had been better implemented-- like better batteries, and the thing wouldn't just break for no apparent reason, they may have been better. I'm referring to the original ones, not the second version. Never got one of those. Called the Xtreme.

There doesn't seem to be a comparable one since (price range, capability, portability).
