A thread in the marketplace reminded me that I have a gem sitting under my desk.
I have a GRiDCase 1520 laptop that has 2Mb of ram as well as I installed a new CMOS battery holder in the thing (now the next time it dies I don't have to completely tear the system down to get at the darn thing).
I was using it in highschool last year Typing out essays and the likes and back then I could get a good hour on the battery.
Now when I let the thing charge for a night there is just not enough juice to even let the hard drive spin up. The battery case itself looks sealed and I'm wondering if there is either a way to cleanly open the battery and install new cells or recondition the cell as it is (though it's very old).
I might take this laptop with me when I go to university (as well as my NeXT Cube and it's 400dpi laser printer) and it's still a great portable serial terminal and the modem still works!

EDIT: aaargh! I typoed the thread again!
