Hi, I'm in the process of moving and in cleaning up have found a game called Doom II. It says it's for Windows95. It boots up on my xp machine and I have to admit music is good but I'm not a gamer so I've no interest in playing this.
I had a look at the files on the disk and one file called DMFAQ66 says "Post-Release v6.666 - STANDARD revision
Last Updated: DOOMSDAY, 1994
December 10, 1994 EST: Anniversary Edition
Written by: Hank Leukart (ap641@cleveland.freenet.edu)"

Another readme file says Doom2 V1.9 so I'm confused since the other file said v6.666. ?? Can somebody give me some idea if this a game that someone would want and if so what would be a reasonable price for it?

If it's just garbage, np, I just don't want to move anything that's worthless 1600 miles.

Have you seriously never heard of Doom before?

It was one of the most popular computer games ever made. And it still has a following, people are even working on porting it to the iPhone.

Of course, that also means it's not worth much monetarily, since pretty much everyone in the world already owns a copy or five, but I'm sure somebody would want it if you offered it cheap/free.

I'd heard of the game Doom but only in a kind of general way. I never got into role playing games which I'm guessing this is. My son played some and that may explain the stray disk in the storage room. If people still play it I guess I'll ship it out when I move rather than trashing it. Thanks for the info. Appreciated.

I'd be very interested in it.

The Doom series was one of the few games I ever played, not being a gamer and all. I got into it in a BIG way

lets see, systems I have Doom for:

PC (Damn Small Linux,Dos,Windows, and OS/2 Warp)
Mac Classic
Mac OS X
Atari Jaguar
Sega 32x
Palm LifeDrive

and I still have a Pocket PC version lying around in my hard drive even though I haven't had a Pocket PC in ages ( I'm hoping one day I can find a used one cheap)

heh. doom is about as far from a role playing game as you can get. it's a kill-all-the-monsters-and-dont-get-killed first person shooter. i still play it sometimes. i'm more into quake 1 though.
