Can anyone suggest EGA to VGA converter

I have an old CNC machine with an EGA monitor.

The monitor is toast and replacements are very expensive.

I would like to know if I can find a "EGA to VGA" converter box that would take in EGA signal and that would output VGA signal.

This way I could use a regular VGA monitor with this machine that has EGA output.

Thank you very much.

All you need is three 2-bit digital-to-analog converters and a frequency-doubler. However, I'm not 100% sure, so correct me if I'm wrong...

Well, I would like to be sure. Do you have an example of products that you mention, being sold by some legit website.

Thanks

Failing that, there are LCD VGA monitors that can reach down into EGA frequencies (24KHz horizontal). Creating a VGA RGB signal would then be mostly a matter of a resistive ladder D-A converter.

Yes, that's the one I ordered. Also, ask for the 5 pin cable to be included. If you don't ask you only get the 8-pin cable with it.

I wonder what kind of lag (latency) these digital converters have. I know that modern HDTVs have a lag of up to 1/10th of a second when displaying an analog input, because of the analog-to-digital conversion and upscaling to HD resolution. That may not sound like much, but it is enough to throw off the audio/video synch when watching movies, and is more than enough to make video games become "sluggish" and difficult to play.

These converters are being targeted towards arcade games, however, so hopefully the latency is minimal.
