Hi,

Recently i've been given an old DEC laptop, model DECpc 425 SLC/e. The PC does not boot and shows this error message :

Cmos Timer Error.
Unrecoverable Power-Up Error.

At first I thought the problem was one of its batteries, a 7.2 V 60 mAh located at the right side, next to the Hard Drive. I replaced it but the error still appears.

The power button doesn't work and when you plug the power cord nothing is shown on the screen. It is necessary to insert a pencil tip inside the reset hole and then the little LCD display (for battery status) changes its icon and the error message is shown on the screen.

Does anyone know if is there a chance to fix this error? I think the laptop is broken down but it would be lovely to see it again running!

Thanks in advance,

Manel.
