I've got a pile of DSDD Verbatim 8" disks in bulk packs; however, most of the 8" drives I have are single-sided. I know I can just cut/punch an extra index hole in the DSDD media (and I have, it worked fine), but I'd really like some that come with the index hole in the right place! PM me if you're interested in a trade.

Glitch,

I'm in the same boat, but I have decided to punch the new holes, as necessary. I took an old SS floppy and removed the media. The jacket is now a template for marking the DS floppies. I use a fine felt tip pen to mark and then punch them with a hand paper punch, sliding a business card in the hub hole to protect the media from the punch. This has been working just fine.

Since I'm making dec RX01 or RX02 floppies, which are single sided, I've been punching two sets of SS index holes so that the disks can be flipped (two disks for the price of one!)

My problem is the drive I've selected to use with my disk imaging machine is a DSDD 8" Tandon -- won't the double index holes confuse it?

Normal practice is to put a sticker over the other hole:

I probably have some SS disks somewhere, just have to pull the data off.
