I'm waiting on some IBM EGA video cards to show up from a gent here, but my 5154 display showed up today. I have a Z-409 and Z-419 video card in my Zenith Z-200, question is I want to make sure that either or one of these is EGA compatible, I do not want to roast or toast my 5154. So my question is, does anyone here know if either of those vid cards is compatible?

Refer http://members.dodo.com.au/~slappanel555/mda_cga_ega.htm

If you know that the card is either MGA, CGA or EGA, you could measure the resistance between pins 1 and 2. A high reading would indicate EGA.

Note though that there is IBM EGA and what I will call 'enhanced' EGA. For example, some companies, e.g. Taxan, produced 'enahanced' EGA products that ran at higher synch frequencies. Connecting an IBM 5154 to a Taxan EGA card could damage the 5154.

And so measuring the resistance between pins 1 and 2 is only an indicator of overall class: MGA/CGA versus EGA.

Well ironically those two IBM EGA cards did arrive, I did get one installed, and I did find the dip switch settings elsewhere online, but does anyone have PDF'd someplace the installation document?

See http://members.dodo.com.au/~slappanel555/misc/EGA.pdf
It's taken from the manual for the IBM RT PC and so disregard references to the 'AT Coprocessor Adapter'.

Switch/jumper settings are also in the 'IBM Enhanced Graphics Adapter' document at http://members.dodo.com.au/~slappanel555/oa/oa.htm
