Got an Amiga 1000 today that I knew was currently non-functional.

Fired it up to see what I got. Seems fairly similar to the A2000 I recently fixed -- the screen doesn't do the grey, light grey, white 'post' thing. However unlike the A2000, the floppy drive spins? Doesn't do anything.. just spins. I removed the CPU and fired up just to see if the behaviour changed a little... same thing.

With the A2000, it was leaked battery acid that wrecked two of the pins. No sign of rust or any damage at all on this mainboard as far as I can see.

Thoughts?

If the floppy cable is installed incorrectly (e.g. "off by one", "upside-down"), etc. the floppy will run as long as you apply power. Says nothing about the condition of the system itself.

Checked the cable -- it's aligned with pin 1 correctly on both ends..

Definitely seems like a similar issue to the 2000 -- there's a small bluish band up at the top of the screen when you power up. Wonder if maybe the CPU is toast. If I weren't afraid of upsetting my working 2000 I'd pull the chip from that one to test it.
