Quite a while ago, I bought a PowerBook 5300c from a fellow member. It had os 7.6 installed. It had a feature that would speak the text you typed. The Os was corrupt so I replaced it. After spending in excess of $50.00 on 2 corrupt copies of 7.5.3, I purchased a PowerBook 5300 (B&W) for less than &20.00, and made a copy of 7.5.2 off of it. The question is what system or Os contains text to speech or is it separate program?

Sorry about the typo....(Mack instead of Mac)

I know this is exactly what you're going to want to hear after attempting to do the "right" thing and purchase SSW 7.5.3, but...Apple released it to the public for free some time ago:

If you can't write the disk images out to physical media yourself, you shouldn't have trouble finding a forum member who will (since you're in PA I'd be willing as long as I've got a Mac with a floppy drivet set up and running).

I never checked to see if speech recognition was included in 7.5 but I believe it's in 7.6 and up.
If you want to try 7.6 again, you have probably seent hat it's not cheap and unlike 7.5.3, not free.

Any PC with a 1.44 floppy (internal or USB) should be able to make 1.44mb Mac disk images, on the PC side "rawrite" (DD in linux) is capable of imaging any uncompressed disk image, now mind you the PC wont read or understand the disk, but it doesnt care, its blindly writting a bit-for-bit image that the Mac should be able boot from and use.

That said, if you dont have access to a computer with a floppy drive, many members here would be willing to write the images to disk for you, myself included (provided you pay shipping).

I finally got System 7.5.3 on my PowerBook. Long story but I made it happen. Also an answer to an earlier question I had, text to speach is in "simple text" in 7.5.3. I'm still learning to,"Think Different",and having a ball.
