The IBM 5150 Motherboard uses 3 tubular type capacitors, two are .01uF / 50v and one is .047uF / 50V. Markings indicate these are made by TRW, type 630 FR. I would like to identify modern day equivalents for the capacitors that are still available in quantity. (EBAY has a limited mixed bag of vintage 'near misses') Can anyone identify what type these are and suggest a good substitution? Attached is a photo of one... Thanks, Michael

C5 and C8 are used in the cassette interface circuitry. C9 is used in the speaker circuitry.

C5 and C9 appear to be identical. They are shown as .01uF on the schematic. On one board I have, these are marked as 50 volts, and 80 volts on another. SAMS Computerfacts shows a 100 volt rating. On one board I have, these are marked as "+/- 10%", and the same tolerance on another (the "K" in the "01K").

C8 is shown as .047uF on the schematic. On one board I have, it is marked +/- 10%. SAMS Computerfacts verifies that, as well as showing a 100 volt rating.

No polarity shown on schematics (incl. SAMS), on the capacitors, or on the motherboard.

I think these caps are Polypropylene. Anyone second that?

Additional Information: I received a reply to my email inquiry to a company called 'ASC Capacitors'. (They picked up the TRW line.) Customer service informs the TRW 630 series is obsolete and suggest substituting the X655, X663 or X668 series. A check of the datasheets on their website indicates these suggested substitutes are metallized polyester capacitors.

Thank you for the SAMS information. Much appreciated, Michael
