I have an SX-64 in good condition except for the keyboard. All keys must be activated several times before printing on the screen.

I think it could be a bad chip, but wich?

Probably the keyboard needs cleaning. Unfortunately it is a different type of mechanism than the usual PET/VIC/C64 keyboards. I've heard it is a royal pain to open, clean and assemble without damaging or losing anything. You might want to look for advice how to do it, but only if you have the patience, room and skill to do it. Since the keys register eventually, I don't think it is a CIA or other fault inside the computer.

To verify, if you have a spare VIC/C64 keyboard mechanism and look up the DB25 pinout for the SX-64 (one pin missing IIRC), you might as well try to wire up a spare keyboard. I've never done it, but presume it should work given the correct pinout.

Diagnosis and repair/upgrade of the commodore sx-64

The SX-64 is a computer with keyboard, disk drive and 5" color
monitor all compacted into (for its time) a small space. Diagnosis and
repair is therefore more difficult than with "stand-alone" devices.
However, with the info presented here, you should be able to figure out
what the problem is and possibly repair your SX. You need to be
observant for (sometimes subtle) symptoms... what works and what
doesn't, how it failed, checks with external devices, etc. Since most
of the SX-64 computer and drive electronics are virtually identical
with a standard C64 and 1541 drive, you can use those diagnostic repair
articles for further information. Most electrical parts such as the
major IC chips will substitute as well. The major differences are board
and component locations.
