Bill Moggridge died at 69 of cancer – invented flip open laptop.
Did not see this mentioned elsewhere and may be of interest to many on this site.
From WWW.HUFFINGTONPOST.COM today.
Sold for $8150 and released 1982. Used by military and on Space Shuttle Discovery 1985. Had rugged magnesium case.
Won patent for “clamshell” design that fit all snugly together – screen, keyboard & circuitry.
Today, we just take that design for granted and that it has “ always been “ – like so many computer ideas from the vintage era we use so freely today.
So obvious today, but not back then !
