I got it and it looks good, with no smoky smell to it so I don't think it burnt up inside. No accessories, just the main unit itself. This thing is really neat! Cool carry handle, too. Heavy. I like it. No wonder the public fell in love with Apples back then. It has a good solid feel to it and a very tough feeling keyboard.

I don't have a power supply for it and have been looking but can't find the pinout for it, strangely enough. I might be able to use one of my PC monitors, cause I have this cool little adapter that goes from db15-db9, though I'm not sure what it's for and I haven't looked at it with a multimeter yet. It has a composite out so I can use it on the tv for now. It has a 5.25" fdd on the side and luckily I got some disks that are suitable for it (from a derelict atari project[it'll still happen I swear]).

I got a 800k external drive and this has the same connector, it was from a Mac toaster, will it work with it? I'm not that familiar with Apple machines, only a little bit with the later Macs. I'm doing my own research but any tidbits you can throw my way would be great.

/edit There is SO much info on this thing that there's too much and researching is hard. How about a power supply? I have a small spare for a pc here, does anyone know the pinout for it? I'm still looking up.

Too bad you didn't say something sooner, I recently gave away my Apple ][e and Apple //c to a local friend. Along with my Amiga 500 & 1000, two monitors (one Apple and one Amiga), all the hardware for them I had, and a ton of software and magazines. I recently also found another box full of Apple & Amiga software that will be going to him as well.

I decided to focus my collection on early Tandy computers (mainly because of space considerations, and they are what I know the best).

You guys are making me regret more and more my decision to let an Apple ][C new-in-box(!) go to demanufacturing. I think I'll end up hating myself and committing suicide over it.

Hehehe. Well, no computer, not even a brand new Apple //c, is worth committing suicide over, although I'm sure there are quite a few folks on this forum that would like to throttle you over it! ;-)

I wanted an Apple //c so bad, back when I was in the Navy. I'd go to the Navy Exchange on base (NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA) every chance I could and just look at the Apple //c's. I couldn't afford one though. I just stuck with my trash-80's, then my PC clones, and never bought the Apple I wanted.

I got the two I just gave away by accident. One of my friends heard I was starting to collect vintage micro-computers, and he just showed up at my doorstep one day, and the two of us unloaded box after box of equipment, software and magazines. To tell you the truth, I never even turned on either of the Apples, and only booted the Amiga 500 about three times. :-(

It won't work. The iic puts out an non-standard signal on that port. Not even the IIgs RGB monitor will work... not without special hardware.

If you're looking for futher details... you can see more info in the CSA2 Apple II FAQs and Links page... this link leads right to the topic on the //c video port.

Well, this was a couple months ago. I think I let an Apple II+ go around the same time...

I really tended to take Apple II's for granted, mostly because I've seen hundreds if not THOUSANDS of IIe's go through our system.

I knew it wouldn't have been that easy. Now I'm curious as to what this adapter is for..? Anyhoo, what are the pin assignments for this thing's power brick? I can make one myself. Thanks for the link Super, I found LOTS of pages dedicated to this machine, or rather the II's. Curiously, not the power. Every other plug on it though is well documented.

Dredd, if you find anything new in the box, check it out first. I don't care if it's a box of chocolates or a server. WHY a box of chocolates? Some are actually collectible. Or at least let us know about it to see if we can give it a home.

I dunno, Nathan...I've got some 9- to 15-pin adaptors in storage somewhere which claim to be Laser 128-to-RGB. I have no idea what the difference(s) might be. BTW, I still have one more ][e (with enhancement kit) looking for a new home (for shipping only)...

From discustions I recall following on comp.sys.apple2 the laser 128 and Apple //c have different video outputs. But I wouldn't be able to say so for sure since I really don't look into Apple II clones at all.

Thanks for the offer Terry, but my wife's mad enough about me bringing another machine home, so I can't get another for a while. Or until we get a shed.

I guess I'll go hunting a power supply for this thing, since I can't seem to find a pinout anywhere for it. Ah well, I might run across something on the way. I'll use the composite output for now, I don't really need a monitor. Still a neat-o keen-o machine all by itself.

there's a link to my fuzzycam pic of the adapter that I got. I'll try it but I won't be disappointed if it doesn't work.

Why would not save that for ebay? If it was actualy NEW it would sell for a few dollars (just about anything vintage NIB would easily sell on ebay).

I have let free machine offers slide because I did not have much interest in the model, but I don't think I would have let them go if they were NIB.

I sold a NIB II-c LCD a couple of years ago, for much too low a price, since there was rumors around in Apple circles that they were vaporware and didn't exist I also stupidly threw in my only II-c and a couple of adapters.

IIRC you had to have an uncommon adapter to hook it up to a TV set or a regular Apple monitor. I'd checkout that RCA socket very carefully before plugging it in to anything.

I think I'll heed your advice and hold out for the apple hardware to get a picture from this thing. I don't wanna fry either a monitor or the only IIc I think I'll ever run across.

download the manual :

at :

on page 237 you can find the power supply specifications and pin/signal numbering

//c

If you are still looking, I have a spare //c power supply as I picked up a 2nd complete //c system a few years ago for a parts machine for my original //c (my very first computer). I would be willing to let the power supply go for a small amount plus shipping from Minneapolis, MN 55448. Make me an offer, and I will accept it. I am a Verified seller on Paypal (same as my user name here at comcast dot net) and ebay (ryanw821) you can check my references if you would like. I gaurantee it will work, but not the cosmetic condition of it as it is yellowing and a little scuffed up.
