I have been looking for a certain old computer for several months, and finally i found it for sale in USA but the seller refused to sell it because of weight and volume. Apparently Fedex (and USPS) have a max size and weight that does not allow to send a PC sized computer overseas. I know UPS allows for larger sizes and weigths but at very expensive rates. Does anyone know of any carrier in USA with reasonable costs to send a PC sized computer to Europe?.

I sent a monitor to Eastern Europe last year at a cost of nearly $200 via USPS. FedEx would have taken it but at a cost of nearly $400.

In their defence, I do believe that FedEx caters exclusively to customers who prefer to pay double. It's a market niche.

Have a look at DHL. I've used them from California to Canada, but they cover the whole world.

Been awhile since I was online here, and am just getting back into the swing of things that were, and will be again.
Got to get myself out of this crappy silicon valley area (5 weeks to go) and then back to AZ and normality.

For shipping from the US to Europe, you need to check out:

It's been years now, but DHL shipped me a PC-sized computer without any issues. Took only two days too (unlike FedEx and UPS DHL fly their airplanes in Norway. The others just dump their shipments into domestic mail). Wasn't expensive either, but I bet at least _that_ part has changed for the worse since then.

p.s. Lorne, thanks for that link - I hadn't heard about that. Must check them out.

My experience was only a few months ago and DHL was considerably cheaper than the rest so if their price has gone up, it's not by as much as the others. They were also surprisingly fast.

PS: @Lorne, nice to see you post again.

I've had great success with FedEx domestically. Reasonable prices, too. I've sent those heavy (~40 pound) multisyncs to all corners of the US with FedEx. The prices have ranged from roughly $60 to about $100 and that has included about $20 - $25 for them to pack these beasts securely.

I haven't but I do recall a few members here having a good experience with Bonvu, especially for auctions where I believe they'll even let you ship it to them then they'll ship it to you.

Bonvu asks for a 7 percent fee over the value of the goods. If you want to buy a 1000 usd goods and shipping costs is, say, 100 usd, you would pay 70 plus 100.

Nice to see you back Lorne! Thanks for the linkage. That one is being bookmarked for sure!
