Write ST floppy from disk image, how?

I'm not that up on the winimage app, but you should be able to just write/extract it to a double density disk on a PC and it should work on the ST. IIRC DOS would add a disk identifier at the beginning of the disk but the ST didn't use one and would ignore it. Going the other way could be a problem at times with some ST models.

I'm looking to write bootable disks that are typically 800K or 820K.
I'm not familiar with winimage(?)
I tried something called STDISK, but it fails complaining about an address mark or something like that.
(Hmm, I wonder if the floppy drive in the machine I'm trying to use is a 1.44M instead of the 720K I think it is).

I'm at a loss here. What was the image created with/on? If it was created on the ST, then you would need whatever software that was used to create it (unless it unpacks automatically). Otherwise, try searching for the image, or should I say a version of it, created on a peecee with ImageDisk, Teledisk, or whatever. I obtained some Antic disks recently, and tried imaging them with ID, and TD also I think, but they were bad apparently. Don't know much about ST stuph...
Good point. What I have is an "ST Disk Image" (as opposed to "MSA format" image) and I'd like to write it to an actual floppy. I have no idea what was used to create it, since I only have the FOO.ST file itself. And, it's 820K in size so it can't just be copied to a 720K floppy.

Good news: I wrote the A_081 Automation disk image to an physical diskette, then booted my 520ST from it. The program I used is called Floppy Image; sadly, it's for an evil operating system. I'll continue to look for an open source solution, but in the meantime this seems to work. (In the interest of completeness: the o/s is XP, the floppy drive is a 1.44MB and the diskette is a Sony DSDD).
P.S. If you don't have an actual ST machine, I highly recommend the Steem emulator.

I want an ST (and an Atari PC2 - the most vanilla looking peecee clone you ever layed eyes on - strangely that's what makes it interesting to me, being it ain't even their first peecee). The only thing I have now is a pile a junk I found in someone's trash sniff
