Hi,

I've had this card as long as I can remember. I know it's NE1000 compatible but I'd like to know a bit more about it, specifically what it's capable of and how to change the resources it uses. (IRQ is easy, it's marked on the large jumper block to the lower left)

Can anyone identify it?

Thanks!
Bobby.

NE2000 is the 16-bit version of NE1000, and yes, it is backwards compatible. Use it as a NE2000 when in a 16-bit slot, though, for more speed.

In any case, I'm not seeing it on TULARC...

I have one that looks a lot like that, but I would need to check. For that one I have a setup tool too.

In my ISA NIC days, my rule-of-thumb was to purchase nothing but NE2000-compatible boards, on the thinking that the NE2000 work-alikes were most ubiquitous. I was never disappointed.

The world changed for me when PCI NICs came out.

LOL about 15 years ago I played for a while with a 3c503. What a dog. It was already obsolete for many years, but I was working on hacking this new device called a TiVo :))) and Andrew Tridgell had figured out how to turn the TiVo's internal bus into a near-ISA-compatible one with some glue logic, and as proof-of-concept had interfaced a 3c503 to it. For some time that was the only way to attach a TiVo to a network. :) Then after a while he managed to make a NE2000 work on the surrogate bus.

Haha, sounds like fun!

..

Thanks guys, I had the jumper set to NE1000 compatible, I changed it to NE2000 and moved the IRQ, now it's working in my AT :)

Bobby.

I have two similar cards but no jumper guide or drivers.
