2 of them have the narrow green swing out door in front. All have rear swing out doors.

Very high quality, I got them while a graduate student at U of Illinois.

Modern racks (Tripplite) are pricig out at $755 ?? Wow, that's pretty pricey. I would think vintage DEC racks (with casters) would go for even more, given the rarity & quality.

Buying a new Tripp-Lite or APC rack is going to cost a lot more than buying a used rack. I've picked up relay racks (the two post telecom type) for $20-50 used or overstock, and full racks for $50-100, usually with some power distribution or shelving remaining. I'm sure DEC PDP-12 racks are worth more than the low end, but I don't know if you'd get more than $150-250 apiece for them. Plus you have the issue of shipping, do they come apart enough to be easily shipped in a smaller box, or will they have to be sent freight?

It's tricky with racks. First of all, modern equipment might not fit at all in a PDP-12 rack. In fact, any equipment that require four posts will not fit the PDP-12 rack, not even DEC equipment. Look at this picture and you'll see that the front posts doesn't align with the rear posts. The rack is very much designed for the PDP-12 and there were not that many made. So you need to find someone that has a PDP-12 without a rack which makes the list of potential buyers quite short.

I happen to know someone who have a PDP-12 without a rack here in Sweden. I think shipping will be horrendous since you can't dismantle the rack... quite a frustrating situation, it would be nice to see another complete PDP-12 (there are only about 30 left).

Where are you located? I'm considering if it would be worth shipping one rack to Sweden, if you are willing to do that of course?

Do you have any pictures?
