so far I've tried 3 VGA cards and they all screw up Leisure Suit Larry the same way. I assumed it was an issue with the Tandy thinking the VGA card was a CGA or EGA card and I downloaded and ran VGAFIXC but it had no effect. I also tried Prince of Persia which defaulted to VGA mode and looked and played fine. Commander Keen IV said CGA/EGA/VGA were all detected in the menu but It will only play in CGA mode. Its the demo version so maybe that was the only mode available even if it detects others?

best way to show whats happening is a video so...

any ideas? maybe i'm applying the VGAFIXc program wrong? I've tried running it off the floppy and hard drive but it never fixes the issue.

The trouble is not with his VGA card, but with the version of the software he is using. Apparently the RL is fast enough to trigger the bug which causes the footprints. The best way to fix it is to obtain the version of the game with the 2.917 AGI Interpreter. If his version is from Leisure Suit Larry's Greatest Hits and Misses, then it will have this bug because it uses AGI version 2.440.

Here are the interpreter files for AGI v2.917 : https://www.dropbox.com/s/l923becs8fvktbi/LSL12.zip?dl=0 The game files are not included. Make a backup of your LSL1 directory, then unzip and overwrite the files in the backup LSL1 directory with the files from the zip. This interpreter file will not work with any other game as it is.

As far as Commander Keen IV goes, there is a CGA version and an EGA/VGA version. You must be using the CGA version, so find the other version here : http://www.classicdosgames.com/game/Commander_Keen_in_Goodbye,_Galaxy!.html

If you remove the graphics card from your RL, you will need the CGA version of Keen IV.
