Content:

- Thread titles should be descriptive enough so that people know whether they want to read the thread or not.

- Postings should add some value. If you step back and read your post after 10 minutes and the the post doesn't contribute to the collective knowlege/experience of the group, then you probably should have saved your typing.

- If it takes you less than 30 seconds to create a post, you probably did something wrong.

- Make an effort to be clear and concise, and spell correctly. Foreign language speakers are semi-exempt from this rule, as most of us would butcher their language if we tried.

- Get your posts in the right area of the forum. There is some overlap, so moderators generally do not get distraught unless it is obviously wrong.

Private messages:

- Use private messages for things that are not of interest to the general group. Asking what ZIP code somebody is in is legitimate, as that matters to other people. Asking what shipping is to your ZIP code is not legitimate.

- Don't post a public message saying 'PM sent.' That should be obvious.

- Remember to check your own private messages once in a while, especially if you post something that might generate private messages to you.

On a personal note ..

Each moderator has a unique style. Vlad basically remains invisible, but still does a bit of moderating. Terry is, shall we say, talkative. And I'm a stickler about trying to maintain some order. Between the three of us (and Erik of course) we're trying to keep this fun and informative. These guidelines become more and more important as the number of members grow.
