Hi everybody,

Recently I get Acer 710 XT desktop. It came to me with additional EGA card installed, on-board CGA was turned off. I've got EGA out and turned CGA on, but when I turned computer on the screen was filled by amber rectangle (I have amber CGA monitor). Looking at the motherboard I found empty 28-pin bed near to Paradise chip. I supposed that it is a ROM where characters should be stored and put EPROM chip from EGA to this bed. So, now screen was filled by '?' with some strange characters instead of BIOS diagnostic messages. So I think that CGA ROM is missed in this computer and if I put CGA ROM embedded video adapter will work. Can somebody help me to get this ROM image?

Thank you and sorry for my English, I'm Russian :)

May be you can find ROM from other CGA card with same paradise chip? What markinkig on it?

Yes if you can find out what Paradise chip is on the motherboard then it's possible to narrow down a ROM.

I have a ROM for the Paradise PVGA1A-JK on my website from an Atari PC4 (286), it was the onboard graphics chip they used. It's of course VGA but the board also has a CGA/EGA header which it can output to. Probably not much help but I thought I would mention it.

I have Acer 915P 286 which has same CGA/CGA Emulation/Mono. I will take a look inside and report back if there is similar ROM.
