Saw a Swintec 8600 for sale on EBay. Thought hey, this looks interesting for $5 (I end up with LOTS of wierd stuff this way). It arrived yesterday.
It appears to be a pretty standard 386sx-16 motherboard, with a floppy card and a mono graphics/printer card. All I have to do is figure out how Swintec powered the thing.
It looks like there is a relay on the printer port that is triggered by the connection of a Swintec typewriter, and the power actually came in through the keyboard connection. I'll have to investigate a bit.
I don't know if it requires a boot floppy or if the OS is embedded. There is an extra card with an unlabeld EPROM on it.
If anyone is interested, I'll post more as I learn about it.
