I got this for my birthday in October from a friend who knew I was into vintage computing.

Now, don't mind me asking, but before I do something stupid, can I play 2600 carts on this thing? I mean, as of now my 2600 is hooked up to an old b/w tv on a little cart huddled in a corner. Not very welcoming.

I don't want to make a stupid mistake and scuff up my Missle Command cart... not to mention my XE!

You'll need at least an Atari 7800 to play the 2600 carts. Since XE
carts & 7800 are incompatable with one another, it's safe to
assume it's the same the other way around too.

I'm rahter sorry, I didn't get one of these machines, cause they
look rather impressive (maybe I would have done some
programming for it - but I'm so into 80x86 & Z80 now, that I
don't think I could handle 6xxx assembly)-:

CP/M User.

The XE can run almost any games & software for the Atari 400, 800, XL series and XE series computers. Some XE software requires a 130XE with 128K of ram.
