Includes mono monitor, mouse, keyboard, printer, paper tray and slab. Make an offer. I will not arrange for shipping, it's just not worth my time. Located in Northern NJ. I don't know if it works yet, but I wanted to see if anyone is interested.

Well, I cleaned most of the dust off, plugged it all in, and it worked. Here's the specs:
NextStation
Next Mono Monitor (nice and bright)
8MB RAM
400MB HD
NextStep 2.1 installed
Includes Mouse, Keyboard

Looking for $100. PM me if interested.
all Next cables (including the power cables)
Next laster printer with input and output trays
WordPerfect for Next with manuals
and system manuals.

Will probably need a new battery. It seems this machine was last powered on almost 11 years ago (May 1996).

So, am I asking too much for a NextStation? Any offers from anyone? What would you be willing to pay? I will ship the unit, but it will take some time to get boxes for it all and get it packed properly.

I'd consider a serious discount if anyone came and picked it all up.

I'm surprised you didn't have any takers. NeXT used to be the geek's dream, even many years after they became obsolete. Going back five years in time, asking $100 for all that would be pocket money. Or maybe it is the colour models that are most sought for.

Perhaps you should try some other forum (mailing list, eBay, newsgroup etc) if the people on VCF are not up to it. I understand that you rather don't want to ship these big, heavy items.

I've been watching some on eBay. One lot with 2 units expired with no bids at $0.99. I guess the desire for Next computers is gone. I now have 3 options:
1) Hold on to it
2) Part it out
3) Donate it to InfoAge.

I wonder if they have one?

Sheesh. I suppose it is the shipping costs that make people refrain from bidding. Also that with monitor, printer and everything it takes a fair bit of space.

On another forum, yesterday I tried to trade away my Macintosh LC475. I was told that it is more common than sand in Sahara. Every man and his dog own at least one Mac LC, some people up to 10 units which they are dying to get rid of! These have never been as attractive to collectors as NeXT used (?) to be, but I figured I'll store it away in the basement for a while longer, until one day I'll give it away or go to the dump. It is fully working w/ Ethernet, minus one key that is loose.

Update: Just after I wrote that, my nearest collector (perhaps 500 meters from my apartment) offered to buy it for a relatively nice sum of money. I can carry it by hand to his place, so no shipping costs...

Kelly,
I do not believe that there is one at InfoAge now. Before you give up trying to sell..Are you coming to Trenton Computer Festival? We are going to have a table (marchclub.org) at the outside flea market. Perhaps you can sell/trade it there.

One other comment. If you clean the computer really well and take good pics of the system screen with software in use, you'll have a better chance to sell it.

Yep, I know a good cleaninn and a picture or two would help a lot. However, if I invest that effort it's going on EBay.

Glad you sold it, most people tend to need items shipped and you said no shipping so that turns people off.

Some of the best deals I had were from people locally who did not want to mess with ebay or shipping, then again some realy cool items I was willing to pay shipping for were junked for the same reasons.
