I have a Macintosh Performa 630CD, I use for solitaire.

This morning I put in my solitaire disk and the disk pops it out and I get an error box saying that it cannot read the disk, would I like to format it. I said no. I also tried another disk thinking maybe the disk was bad, but it did the same thing.

From what I've seen, the disk drive is bad. Does anyone know where to get a replacement for cheap? I wish I had kept the old LC 475 I had.

Never mind, I got it fixed. I took the case apart this morning and noticed there was a lot of dust in the disk drive. I sucked it out with the crevice tool and cleaned out the fan. Put it back together and it read my disk again!

I don't know if it was getting the dust out or taking the disk drive out and moving it around, but it's back to normal.

The 630 series case was a bit hard to open. You have to stick a flat screwdriver into the two tabs under the front, pop it off. Then unscrew the back top with a phillips. Slide the top of the case and lift it off.

BTW, mine's a 637 CD, not 630 CD.
