Wasn't sure to put this here or in PCs (since I use the monitor as a TTL CGA device) but decided it might fit better here, as someone told me this monitor was originally made for the Commodore market.

A long time ago I picked up a Magnavox Color Monitor 80; it has composite & sound inputs, as well as a (6-pin IIRC) DIN input for TTL CGA. The video cable plugs in there, and the other end has a standard 9-pin CGA plug. As I said, I've been told this was originally a Commodore monitor.

Point being I recently saw a Magnavox Color Monitor 40 for sale, and it looked exactly like mine. I was wondering if there was any difference. Is it just that one does 80 columns, and one does 40?

The Color Monitor 40 does not have RGB/TTL inputs. Memory is fuzzy but I believe they are actually the same monitor, Philips/Magnavox just didn’t solder on the connectors and switch, so if you are handy with a soldering iron you might be able to convert it to an RGB.

Strange because I had a Philips/Magnavox monitor for years hooked up to an Amiga 500 via a Commodore RGB cable (DIN, 6 pin) but this monitor also had composite input for the 64 and an 8pin RGB DIN for TTL. I have a cable for it that is used with the C128. The odd thing is the front of my unit had Color Monitor 40 printed on the door. I got it from the person that bought it new. I don't have the monitor anymore as I got rid of it about 3 months ago. But I will have to see if I have any pictures of it.
