hello, today i opened up the floppy of the epson l2 which would not read disks (i wrote about this a day ago), to my horror, the heads were brand new, and so was the laptop, but the floppy board itself was not ok (from sitting in a basement for the last ~28 years), when i pulled the ribbon that connected the heads to the controller board, the silver part of the connector was white from oxid, and when i pulled out the board, it all had corrosion on the solder , how should i go about cleaning this?

If it's really silver on the edge connector, try some Cool-Amp. Most likely it's just hard tin coating. A soft rag rubbing with some toothpaste will work--just be sure to wash it off afterwards. Offhand, I wouldn't worry about board corrosion, unless it's obvious that socketed ICs have been affected or the corrosion has caused soldered joints to open.
