Hi all, I have this Sysgen external 5.25" floppy drive, and I have been searching for software/drivers for it for sometime with no luck. Requests for this have been posted here in the past with no response, but hope springs eternal. It's a HD drive in an enclosure with a parallel port interface. Any clues would be much appreciated.

Are you certain that it's a parallel port drive? Not doubting you, but noting that Sysgen also produced conventional external drives. If it is parallel port, perhaps a peek inside at the controller might help.

The pictograms on the rear panel Show a picture of a computer over the male DB25 port, and a picture of a printer over a female DB25DB port. It's got to be a parallel port passthough.

Yup, basically the same sort of setup that the Micro Solutions Backpack uses; EPROM, 8031 MCU, 37C65 floppy controller and 8KB of SRAM with some jellybean logic tying it all together. I'll look to see if I have a driver in my collection, but don't count on it.

Oh, there are never any guarantees with this old stuff. I've had it since the late 90's. It came to me with no drive and I used it to house a cdrom for my mother-in-law's computer that had no place to mount one. it's just something to piddle with. Keep an old man off the street.

I appreciate the effort.
