I am looking for a Hazeltine 2000 terminal in good condition, with keyboard. If there's something you're looking for that I have, I would also consider a trade. PM me if you have any leads. . .

Thanks!

Dave

I think Memphis State University (Now University of Memphis) had a deal with Hazeltine back in the 70's. All the campus terminals (used with the Sigma 9 timeshare system) were Hazeltines. Most were the 1500 model, but there were a few 2000's around. I loved the aesthetics of the terminal, and also the detachable keyboard. Back then, semiconductor memories were expensive, and core was well-tread technology, so small core memories were not unreasonable. Shift registers were also used in the early 70's, but I'm not sure if they were available in 1969-1970.

There were H2000A, H2000B and H2000C models of the Hazeltine 2000, and the C for sure and I believe the B models used semiconductor memory, not core.

The 2000C was a major re-design of the electronics, instead of a logic rack with 15-20 smaller circuit boards plugging in horizontally, the 2000C had three very large circuit boards that plugged in vertically.

The C was also pretty "flakey" with lots of intermittent problems.

The company where I worked was the nationwide authorized service company for Hazeltine terminals in the early 1970's. I recall large concentrations of H2000's at a Blue Cross office and a major hospital, and smaller numbers of terminals at various US Government departments like BLM, also many universities had Hazeltine terminals.

Thanks to this board, my search was successful. I can find the service manual for the 'A' model online, but unfortunately, there is no service manual for the 'C' manual, which, as Doug notes above, is quite different from the 'A' model.

If anyone has access to, or knows of, any copies of of the manuals for the 'B' and 'C' models that might be scanned or sold, I would be most grateful.

Thanks in advance,

Dave
