I was just wonderning, is this an offical
Atari webpage?

Atari should do something in order to
support all users of their machines
(as should everyone else who's been
making hardware/software for a long
time), that's what they need.

But that'd be great if that were an
official Atari website (if not one then
one which Atari supports! :)

I believe Atari today actually is Infogrames who decided to change their name to the one of the company they acquired. Probably they have some records of which software titles Atari holds copyrights for, but not much technical specs I would believe. Whether they acknowledge a fan site like Atari Age, I don't know but as long as it doesn't spread warez...

Now the world is only awaiting 2L (Tulip subsidiary) to officially change their name to Commodore, but that is quite unlikely given how little has happened with their deal and Ironstone Partners.

Infogrames has been going for a long time, quite
possibly the mid-80s as they had a few games
for the Amstrad, Hostages is one which springs
to mind. Atari were still going under that name in
the 90s with the Atari Lynx & Atari Jagurar (which
was the last console I heard produced by them).
This was in 1994/5. If Infogrames has anything to
do with Atari, then they would have merged with
them.

But then Infogrames doesn't exist in Australia &
Atari have been still going under this name here!
;-)

IIRC, it was like 2-4 years ago they merged. Check http://www.atari.com/ which also has an organization chart to see exactly how departments link together. No matter how much I look, I am unavailable to find any hints of a past, which is slightly depriving.

As a comparison, Sega has slight support for their mid 90:s consoles, and Nintendo has an extensive backlog to the early 80:s. Neither normally supports third-party fan sites though.
