I was looking online to find any information on an anitque computer I have at home that I want to sell rather than just throw away but couldn't find anything.

The computer itself is just this rectangular box with a cover that latches onto the front with the tiny screen and the floppy drive. The brand is columbia data productions, inc. (my dad bought the computer way back in the day when computers just started coming out. he said he bought it for about $7,000)

on the back it says
COLUMBIA DATA PRODUCTS, INC.
computer business sustems div
made in U.S.A.

model: 1600-vp/110
serial no.: 8149 G
the date of mfg (whatever that is): 12-83
rev.: F

If any one knows anything please let me know. thanks.

Google 1600-vp/110 - looks like bidding on the Vietnam eBay is starting at 20 bucks US. Once again, find the guy that has been looking for one of those for 17 years and voila, worth a lot.

It would seem you've got a Columbia Data Products MPC 1600-1, apparently "the first IBM PC clone".
The value would depend on condition and of course, if anyone wanted it.
But almost certainly, you're not getting that 7 grand back.

As for "when computers just started coming out", you might want to look that up yourself.
What you'll find may surprise you.

Hey, where did my last reply go? Anyway I confused Galbi with the othew newb (supersport?) who said he's from Delaware. Oh well.

Ok, still not quite sure about who was first but here's the only picture I could easily find of your model http://www.computermuseum.li/Testpage/ColumbiaDataProductsPC-1983.htm

As the others already said, the value depends on who's looking. I'd agree it probably won't go for much more than $100 + shipping on ebay.

Interesting system though.

yup, that's it.

well, after looking more online on the value of vintage computers like mine it doesn't seem like the money I'd be making from selling it would be worth the trouble and time.

Maybe I should just keep it for sentimental reasons. and who knows, maybe it'll be worth more later.

yea, I think I'll just keep it... pass it on to my future kids :)

HaH, a $7000 computer gone down to be worth less than $100. so sad. I thought I'd at least make $10,000 hahaha~

anyways, appreciate all the replies.
