Hi all,
I've 8088 board with DTK/ERSO/BIOS v 2.32
when I connect keyborad (with 80286/8088 switch) I get "K-B Error"
Only NumLock and CapsLock works.
What can I do with this ?

On board there is caption "10MHz turbo board" but socket is 8088-2, that means 8MHz, hm... 10MHz board with 8MHz cpu ?

regards

You really need a second PC_XT keyboard to verify that your keyboard is not the problem.

I think I have the user's manual for your board. It is titled "10 MHZ TURBO MAINBOARD" and refers to "ERSO/DTK TURBO BIOS".
Let me know if you want a copy.

The manual contains, "The heart of the 10MHZ Turbo system board is the INTEL 8088-1 or qualified 8088-2 microprocessor".
Such a statement would apply to all 10Mhz motherboards.
By 'qualified', I expect that this means that the board maker tested/exercised the particular -2 CPU at 10Mhz and deemed the CPU to be usable at that speed.

I already tested with second keybord but also with AT/XT switch.
I suspect that this switch is the problem. Maybe I must have orginal XT keyboard (with out switch) ?

Yes, I will be greatly appreciated

Oh... that's overclocking 8088-2 ;)

Temporarily I connect 360KB floppy disk (5,25") with dos 3.2 and use autoexec.bat as keyboard :crazy:

Big THX for the manual. My mainboard is exactly the same (PIM-TB10) :D

and I resolve my problem with keyboard :) JP3 should be closed because this is "keyboard lock" function and with JP3 opened I've get K-B error ;)

I believe an "8088-1" really is rated to run at 5MHz abd "8088-2" is able to run at up to 10MHz. The fact that most 8088-1s ran at 4.77MHz is not Intel's doing but IBM's.

You are correct about IBM being at fault for the 4.77MHz rating on the 8088 chips used in the 5150 and 5160, but you're a little off with your 8088 speed grade ratings

-8088/8086 without any markings is rated to run at 5MHz
-8088/8086 with the "-2" marking is rated to run at 8MHz
-8088/8086 with the "-1" marking is rated to run at 10MHz

Yes, as strange as that seems a "-1" is actually better than a "-2"
