Am I missing something, but when I last looked at this
.....
Working Teletype model 3320 - with documentation
Item number: 220178766058

it was sitting at just over $1100,
I have been watching it with a mind to put a bid in, as they come up over here (uk) so rarely, but while I wasn't looking it's jumped to nearly 5X what the last one went for, and with 2 hours to go.

Is the copy holder worth $800 or what!

Wow! Well, does look like a nice clean unit. Appears tape punch is working, printing hardware looks good. With manuals. Guess someone wanted one that was working and didn't care about the cost.

Same's always, value depends on condition, completeness, documentation, etc, and in your case, location in re the big pond. I can only try to imagine (no, I don't even wanna try...makes my head hurt) the shipping cost from this side.

They're so infrequently spotted over here, it's probably worth the couple of hundred to ship one over. It was a shame cos that one didn't have an autotransformer or modem, so it came in at about 70lb (i.e. a normal parcel) minus documentation and paper which could have gone separately.
The shipping charges aren't too bad, apparently it's the port/customs charges that are lunatic, and that's per consignment(i.e. no different for 1 box or one 40' container). It's actually cheaper to ship a parcel of that size by air than slow sea boat, as the port charges are twice for sea parcels what they are for air, so much for global warming!

That one went to a sniper for $1675!! he/she wasn't even in the earlier bidding war.

It could possibly have been as with me... "I'd like a teletype for christmas dear"

Mad!

Hi
If anyone has a 33 that they use for scrap parts, I'm always
looking for a power supply for the tape reader. Mine was missing.
Mine was less than $250 including shipping.
Make sure to have it properly packed if you ever get one.
I recommend removing the motor as well as clamping the printer
unit to the base ( I think it uses 10-32 screws for this ).
With the motor removed, the weight is better distributed
and quite a bit less.
Dwight

Cheers Dwight, I'll bear in mind what you say, I've heard about the importance of clamping the carriage, but not about removing the motor. Although getting someone to remove the motor WELL might be a problem.
I think what you paid for yours is about right. Shame about the bit missing though!
I saw a KSR go last month without a bid, kind of sad, but for me with shipping being so-much-part-of-the-deal I want the right thing.

apparently a chap on here who said he'd got a few going for reasonable offers pickup only said he'd have packed one up for me. <)-:

I will wait..................

That KSR with no bids is back on again... Item number: 160192295086
looks very nice if you're near Richardson Texas, and don't need a punch!
